AP on the Shuttle Launch Pad for Radio, TV, Multimedia Coverage
(Washington) AP members will get the depth and breadth of the story from Cape Canaveral as the world's leading news organization provides space shuttle audio, video, text and photos to multimedia members around the world.
AP Radio anchors Jon Belmont and Lisa Meyer will continue AP's unbroken 44-year long series of covering manned launches. Belmont and Meyer, joined by AP's full-time space specialist Marcia Dunn, will be at this week's launch and next week’s landing of space shuttle Discovery. They’ll broadcast from AP's permanent facilities on the grounds of the Kennedy Space Center, which provides a direct view of both shuttle launch pads. AP Television News will have a full crew on site providing networks and global broadcast news clients with valuable video of the event.
AP has covered every single manned launch since Alan Shepard’s first suborbital flight in 1961. A substantial archive of audio cuts from AP’s award-winning prior coverage is available for programming purposes from AP’s SoundBank. For more information please click here.
