New Anchors, New Sound Added to AP Radio News
WASHINGTON – Jon Belmont and Steve Knight are the newest additions to AP Radio's team of anchors, reporters and staff from around the world providing essential coverage of today's news, sports, entertainment, business and politics to thousands of member radio stations and their web sites. Belmont and Knight will anchor hourly newscasts, bottom of the hour updates, breaking news updates and long form coverage on AP Network News; the AP's flexible, 24-hour newscast which currently airs in all markets across the US. APNN offers several live newscast options throughout the hour to music and news/talk formats that also includes produced audio features, entertainment and lifestyle content.
A veteran network news correspondent, Belmont spent 19 years at ABC News Radio in New York anchoring and reporting. Jon comes to AP Radio from WTMJ-AM in Milwaukee. He is a recipient of numerous radio awards and an inductee into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
Knight joins the Associated Press from CBS News Radio, where he served as an anchor and correspondent, covering the war in Iraq and other assignments. He is an award-winning reporter who has experience in both radio and TV. Knight was news director at KIRO-AM, Seattle, and also worked at KING-TV, Seattle and KGW-TV, Portland, Oregon.
