Washington, DC – The Associated Press today began testing local content contribution to the Online Video Network (OVN) player. The next phase allows media Web sites to upload locally-produced video clips to their Web site’s player in order to further customize the content for their audiences.

The system being developed will allow affiliates to control a new “Local” tab within the player and populate it with their own video content. The Web-based tool will also allow grouping of video clips into collections within the tab. This Web tool is fully compatible with Internet Explorer on Windows systems, and Firefox on both PCs and Macs.

”We are excited to begin testing of the local video upload feature” said Jessica Arnold, AP’s director of online video operations. “Once fully implemented, it will serve as a valuable tool for our members.”

Over 30 Web sites are currently participating in the beta test, and a network-wide rollout is scheduled for March.
